THE REVOLUTIONISTS presented by Gnarly Bard Theater Company

Mar 6, 2026 - Mar 15, 2026

Join Gnarly Bard Theater Company for the 3rd show of our 2025/2026 season with THE REVOLUTIONISTS by Lauren Gunderson.

The Revolutionists is a play about four very real women who lived boldly in France during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror.

Playwright Olympe De Gouge, assassin Charlotte Corday, former queen (and fan of ribbons) Marie Antoinette, and Haitian rebel Marianne Angelle hang out, murder Marat, loose their heads and try to beat back the extremist insanity in the Paris of 1793. What was a hopeful revolution for the people is now sinking into hyper violent hypocritical male rhetoric. However will modern audiences relate?

This grand and dream-tweaked comedy is about violence and legacy, art and activism, feminism and terrorism, compatriots and chosen sisters, and how we actually go about changing the world.

It’s a true story.

Or total fiction.

Or a play about a play.

Or a raucous resurrection. . .

that ends in a song and a scaffold.

CANNERY ROW

Saturday, April 4, 2026 - 7:30 PM CST

Playing music now together for over 20 years, Cannery Row mines an eclectic mix of musical styles including Texas swing, folk, blues, classic country, and all things Americana. The band includes Chris Laumb on guitar, Carol Anderson on bass, Dean Severson on guitar and pedal steel, Gary Dockendorf on mandolin, and Mike Sharp on guitar and harmonica. They all sing. Sometimes together.

John Steinbeck said it best: “Cannery Row…is a poem, a stink, a grating noise, a quality of light, a tone, a habit, a nostalgia, a dream.  Cannery Row is the gathered and scattered, tin and iron and rust and splintered wood, chipped pavement and weedy lots and junk-heaps…”

*50% of ticket sales for this show will be donated to the local food shelf.
